Higher School Certificate: Dance (2 Units)
HSC Preliminary and Full Courses

Ecole Ballet Studios offers tuition in the practical and theoretical components of HSC Dance. Students from Ecole and other dance schools who have studied HSC Dance at Ecole have gained excellent results since 2001. Several have been asked to perform at the Callback performances at Sydney Opera House.

Boards of Studies requirements are as follows:
Preliminary Course must be taken before commencing the HSC course. The Board indicates 120 hours of study for the Preliminary year. It is in order for students to undertake the Preliminary Course (and the HSC Course in the following year) whether they are Year 10 or 11. Indicated hours for the exam year are: 120 hrs (approx. 3.5 hrs per week).

The Board’s full requirements for the Dance syllabus Stage 6 and the Preliminary Course are available on

It should be noted that Ecole acts as 'Outside Tutor' and the student's own academic school enters the child for the examination. The onus is on parents to ensure that Ecole has full contact details of the appropriate personnel.
