Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre Vocational Course Please note this course is suspended during 2011.
The year is divided into two Semesters: Semester 1 (Terms 1&2) and Semester 2 (Terms 3&4). Day students may join at the beginning of either Semester 1 or 2.
This arrangement can be convenient for those aiming to go on to finishing schools in Europe or U.S. as the school year there commences in September.
Students aged 14.5-15 years generally remain at Ecole for two and a half years. Any student who has been accepted may, however, study as a day student at Ecole for as little as one Semester (assuming they already have firm plans) or for up to three years.
Day students are divided into three Senior Levels:
SL 9 Most day students belong to SL9 during their first 2 terms or until taking Advanced 1 exam.
SL 10 comprises students of Advanced 2 level or equivalent and above. This group of students is beginning to research future schooling/employment opportunities and receives a series of short lessons during each Semester to this end.
SL11 Comprises students (some who are still preparing for RAD Advanced 2) who have been invited to actively prepare for graduation from Ecole, i.e. to film audition DVDs and receive help with applications. They are eligible for individual meetings for advice on resume, audition technique, travel, contacts, etc.). Please see separate notice obtainable from the Office for details of audition DVD preparation and filming arrangements.
Subject to sufficient numbers, students are escorted to major competitions, for example: Alana Haines NZ Awards, Prix de Lausanne, Adeline Genee Competition, Youth Grand Prix USA and, starting in 2011, for group audition trips overseas.
Term fees include all classes including Pilates (half hour per week shared private lesson) and RAD syllabus Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 (each 2 classes per week) and, where eligible, Graduate preparation.
Fees : please enquire. Part Scholarships are available but are strictly limited.
A limited number of Private Coaching sessions are available. Solo Seal and filming and editing of Audition DVD are optional extras.
